Galgotias University signs MOUs with 3 more International universities!!!

 Galgotias University from its inception has a strong focus  to internationalise the University through not only admitting foreign students, but also build up strong academic partnerships between GU and institutions abroad for developing need based and innovative programs and research to meet the global challenges. 
These  activities have resulted  in  strategic international partnerships with reputed higher education institutions in other countries  that  not only assist in creating a distinctive international educational experience for our students, but also allow the University to maintain an active presence in the international academic community.
During the months of April and May  a few more such strategic partnerships have been  forged with the following universities.

The University of Maryland - Smith School of Business- Through this MOU Galgotias University and the University of Maryland have agreed on the following-
A semester of study  for  GU students at UMD and vice versa for students of UMD.
The second specific agreement with the Smith school of Business at UMD is for MBA students wherein the students would complete the 1st year of their Galgotias MBA program in India, then go to the Smith School for one year to receive their MSB – Masters in Supply Chain Management, and finally finish the 2nd year of their Galgotias MBA program back in India.
This MOU also involves faculty exchange and exchange in research areas.

galgotia galgotiaUniversity of Arkansas,Fayetteville,USA-The MoU with the University of Arkansa,USA, is for Exchange of Faculty, Exchange of  Students, Collaborative Programs and seminars and research activities.The two universities have agreed to encourage research collaboration in areas of mutual interest through a program of visiting faculty and graduate student exchange for periods of up to one year.The two institutions will also co-operate on exchanging academic, research and other educational materials.

Internapa College Cyprus-InterNapa College is a college in Cyprus and is registered with the Cyprus Ministry of Education and  authorized to offer Certificates, Diploma and Bachelor Level Degrees. GU students from  Hospitality and Business Administration will have the opportunity to transfer to Internapa College to complete 1 or 2 years of their course. The memorandum also calls for collaboration in research, instruction, and faculty exchange between both the Universities.

Faculty Members from Civil Engineering Department-GU
Anglia Ruskin University, UK-A second MOU with the Anglia Ruskin University was signed specifically for students of Civil Engineering  to provide them an opportunity  to study in the UK . Under this arrangement students will study three years of the B Tech Civil Engineering programme at Galgotias University and transfer to the third year of a BEng Civil Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. On successful completion of the third year,Anglia Ruskin University will award them a BEng Civil Engineering which will immediately give them an  Incorporated Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers – the association which qualifies professionals engaged in civil engineering. The MOU was signed by  the Vice Chancellors of both the Universities -Professor Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University and  Professor Ashok Saxena, Vice Chancellor, Galgotias University in the presence of Mr.Suneel Galgotis-Chancellor GU.
All these  strategic partnerships  will  assist in creating a distinctive international educational experience for GU  students and  the international office invites everyone   to take advantage of such opportunities and make full use of them

Preparatory English Program for International Students


For Students from non-English speaking countries who wish to enroll into regular programs of GU,GU offers a preparatory  program which is a combination of  intensive English Training  combined with Computer training, Maths, Physics and Chemistry (for students who  wish to enroll in engineering programs).
This program serves as an academic bridge in Computers, Mathematics and Basic Sciences between the students’ current qualification and those required for the commencement of their undergraduate studies at GU.

 


The English Language program is designed to develop skills needed for success in any English speaking environment. The program focuses on all four areas including reading; writing listening and speaking.The trainers for the program are experienced to cater to the needs of students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. After successful completion of the program, the students will be awarded an English Proficiency Certificate.
To apply you need to send in your transcripts of marks of your final Board exams equivalent to 12 years of schooling.
You also need to apply for the academic program that you would like to study upon completion of the foundation program. The application for the same is also attached
  • Cost of the program: 1000$ (does not include accommodation and food costs.

Christmas Celebration at Galgotias University




Tis the season to be jolly!!! Students of Galgotias University have already started their Christmas celebrations to mark the birth of Jesus Christ and welcome Santa Claus.
 

 

A 5 member musical band from Noida City Assembly of God (NCAG) visited Galgotias University Campus for carol singing and sharing the joys of the occasion on December-21’2012. 

The celebration started with the introduction about Jesus. A short video film about the birth and early life of Lord Jesus was also shown during the celebration.


Christmas songs like ‘jingle bells’ and ‘feliz navidad’ were sung by the students gathered to celebrate the holy occasion. While closing the show, Igulu Kingsey, a member of the band said that they tend to wish people a happy Christmas at Galgotias University. 


Dr. Ashok Saxena, Vice-Chancellor-Galgotias University, Anita Charles, Head-International Relations and Vinnie Mathur, Director-Student Affairs and Clubs at GU also joined students in singing hymns and carols.. Dr.Avadhesh Kumar, Dean-School of Computer and Information Sciences, GU appreciated efforts of students and thanked NCAG members for spreading the message of peace and happiness.  

The event witnessed a wonderful view of interfaith harmony with students from different communities, performing together.

Delegation from Zurich University of Applied Sciences




A delegation from the School of Management and Law, Zurich University of Applied Sciences recently visited Galgotias University to discuss a collaboration to promote joint study programs between the Universities.





The members of the delegation  were Mr.Waseem Hussain, Project Manager India, Mr.Stephan Loretan, Director, Department General Management, Mr. G P Chandra Kumar, Chairman & CEO SkillSonics, Banglore. The members met with Dr.AshokSaxena, Vice Chancellor, Dr.ShamTikkoo, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr.Balaji, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr.Avadhesh Kumar, Dean-School of Computer and Information Sciences, Prof. P.K.Sharma, Dean-School of Medical and Allied Sciences and Anita Charles, Head-International Relations at GU.



The discussion was centered around a possible academic collaboration between the two universities and also the possibility to offer a program at bachelor level in international management at GU.

Mr.G.P.Chandrakumar offered a bird’s eye view of the Swiss vocational training system and this sparked interest into possibilities of offering Swiss vocational training programs to Indian students .The daylong discussion concluded with both universities optimistic of working together on a few initiatives.

MOU Signing ceremony between Galgotias University and Anglia Ruskin University, UK

A Memorandum of understanding was signed on the 29th November,2012  between Galgotias University and Anglia Ruskin  University, UK  at the Galgotias University campus, Greater Noida. The three-member delegation from Anglia Ruskin University was headed by their Pro Vice-Chancellor Sandra Hollis and included Mr.Austin Brown, Regional Director, South East Asia and Mr.Rohit Verma, Manager International Admissions. The Vice Chancellor of GU Dr.Ashok Saxena, Pro Vice Chancellors Dr.Balaji Rajagopalan and Prof.Sham Tickoo were also present during the event and the subsequent discussions.
The Vice Chancellor of  Galgotias University was pleased with this new collaboration as this opened the way for learning, teaching, and research activities across the whole intellectual spectrum of both the universities and also would give the GU students an opportunity to study in UK.
 


This MOU will be the Galgotias University’s first with a university in UK.
The MOU aims at

  • Investigating opportunities for developing joint curriculum initiatives
  • Exploring opportunities for joint research activities, 
  • Exchanges of students and faculty
  • Collaborative degree programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels


It may be noted that Galgotias University has already entered into international collaborations with 3 universities in the USA viz Northern Illinois University, USA, Purdue University, Calumet Campus, USA, University of North America, and Vienna, Virginia, USA.
